Setting yourself up for success requires more than motivation and grit—it also entails overcoming your fear of commitment. The first step forward will always be the toughest and it’s ironic how you can get so pumped up jotting down those long- or short-term goals. And yet, you realize that staying on the path seems like an uphill battle. Understandably, your motivation tank won’t always be overflowing; rather, it can run on empty before you even know it.
To get your bum out of your couch, try to set a system to follow through regularly. Make this a habit. Be loyal to it. It is like being firm on a program that is set for success. Now, as your mountaintops await your arrival, plan every step that you should take. Slice your goals into bite-sized chunks that you can swallow every day, until you find yourself within reach of your target.
In reality, having your map pinned with your destination does not just lead you to the finish line; it can even allow you to go beyond it. As you cross another milestone, your motivation turns into a well-designed routine, and ascendancy will be your second nature. Following your goals may at times lead you to take drastic steps, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Make things more rewarding and manageable by embracing new habits you can count on in the long run.
As you refine and redefine your tactics, don’t be disheartened if your routine isn’t polished enough yet. With consistency, you’ll soon feel the warmth of the sun on the summit. It’s better to take it one step at a time with guaranteed progress on your side rather than setting hard goals with a promise of uncertainty. So, let your aims become building blocks that will support your long-term progress. Mark the tasks off of your to-do list, and be persistent as you keep in mind the reason why you started. Soon enough, your commitment towards bettering yourself will reward you with awe-inspiring paths and routes you never thought you could reach.
